Patineur de vitesse - NOUVELLE ZÉLANDE

BIOGRAPHIE

Who is Shane DOBBIN ?

Shane Dobbin was born 22 January 1980 in Palmerston North. He is a New Zealand inline skater and a speed skater. He has a wife Tanya and two children. His coach was also his father Roy Dobbin and it is now his older brother Kalon.

While he considers Australia's Gold Coast as his main home, he splits his time between there and his residence in Salt Lake City, UT, United States, where he trains.

He began inline skating at age eight, and switched to speed skating in 2008. The reason for taking up this sport is that he and his older brother Kalon would do laps around their parent's service station forecourt on inline skates, initially because they enjoyed going fast. He switched to speed skating because he wanted to compete at an Olympic Winter.

His sporting philosophy and motto is from the American boxer, Muhammad Ali: "I hated every minute of training, but I said 'Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion'."

He flew New-Zealand flag in Sochi in 2014. In PyeongChang, he will have pretty big chances to win an Olympic medal in the team pursuit race with his compatriots and team mates Peter Michael and Reyon Kay.
